Hi! My name is Taylor.
Hi! My name is Taylor. I was diagnosed with Juvenile diabetes 3 ½ years ago on February 23, 2007. I was 7 ½ years old. I have ever since had the misfortune of having to live with the daily struggle of life with diabetes. I am aware that my struggles will continue until a cure is found. Diabetes creeps into every aspect of my life. My diabetes has affected every member of her family. I have deal with irritability, vomiting, headaches, day's home or leaving early from school due to frequent sugar imbalances. My family has to be patient and committed. Diabetes does not take a vacation.
Fortunately I am not without hope. Incredible advances have been made in the care of diabetes due to the research of JDRF. Advances like my insulin pump which not only helps me manage my diabetes but also ensures that I will stay out of the hospital. As I get older my family will look into the continuous glucose monitor; a new device that is inserted underneath the skin and "communicates"(sugar levels) with the pump. It can automatically adjust insulin for high and low sugar levels.
The list of complications for Type 1 diabetes is extensive and because I do not want to go blind, develop nerve damage, experience a kidney transplant or amputation caused by diabetes; every year my family and friends work really hard to raise funds for JDRF to help raise research dollars. Every dollar donated to JDRF through Team Taylor and other teams helps make the chances of such horrible things happening to me and so many others with this debilitating disease decrease.
Once again for the fourth consecutive year my family and friends will be participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's annual walk. In the past three years we have done the walk, Team Taylor has raised over $10,000! I want to thank all of my supporters whom have generously donated in the past two years and this year. Your kindness will never ever be forgotten. XOXO

Join TEAM TAYLOR in the 2010 Walk to Cure Diabetes
Dear Friend,
I'm writing to tell you that I'll be walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes this year, and to ask you to join me.
Taking part in the Walk is great experience. Not only will you be making a real difference in helping to find a cure that will change the lives of millions... you'll be having FUN, and getting a good workout too!
First, let me tell you a little about why this cause is so important.
Every year, at least 30,000 new cases of type 1 diabetes--the most severe form of the disease--are diagnosed in the United States alone, a large and growing percentage of them children. Day-to-day living is a challenge for people with type 1 diabetes--and multiple insulin injections are only the beginning. But what's even harder is facing the reality of the devastating complications that can stem from their condition.
As you can imagine, it's easy for people with type 1 diabetes to feel that their future is uncertain. But thanks to research funded by organizations such as JDRF, people with diabetes have a new sense of hope. Scientists are making tremendous progress toward a cure for type 1 diabetes.
That's why this is such a crucial time, and why I'm asking you to join me in walking, and raising money that will speed these scientists toward that cure. Every walker, and every dollar, brings us that much closer.
So please, come join me for this very special day... and a chance to make a real difference!
I'll be walking at Gring's Mill Recreation Area, Reading, PA on October 17, 2010. You can find out more and sign up at: http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=87746350
Thank you,
Taylor
